No, this time around, it ain’t Mauritius, Malaysia, Switzerland or Dubai. Director Raj Chakrabarty, known to tread uncharted waters, courted the virgin locales of Sri Lanka instead to fill the two song-anddance sequences of Le Chakka... Back in the city after shooting for eight days on a trot with Payel in Sri Lanka, Tollywood’s hot property, Dev, says, “We shot in Galle. It’s a beautiful place, but the temparature hovered at a constant 50°C. Imagine braving the blazing heat and even dancing in that weather! I’ve got sun-tanned.” Quiz the director on shooting in locales unheard of in Tollywood and he explains, “Le Chakka... is about the tussle between the Ghoti and Bangal, centering around cricket. The locations are a part of two dream sequences and I was looking for a place that is beautiful minus all that jazz. And so, I zeroed in on Galle.” Talking about the choreography, the director says it’s to Shankar Master’s steps that Dev wooed Payel. “Despite the scorching summer sun playing spoilsport, there was no stopping Dev and Payel,” says Raj. Well, that’s what you call, chance pe dance !
