|| Dev-Koel get together for their third film ||

He’s a happy-go-lucky guy, she’s a no-nonsense doctor. That’s Dev and Koel Mullick, who are all set to recreate the magic of Mon Maane Na and Premer Kahini in their third film Bolo Na Tumi Aamar.

Sujit Mondal, who has recently tasted success with the Jeet-Koel-starrer Saat Pake Bandha, is directing Bolo Na Tumi Aamar, the plot of which he has borrowed from another film.

“Most Bengali films are a copy nowadays. I admit that Saat Pake Bandha was a copy of Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain but the story had universal appeal. Similarly Bolo Na Tumi Aamar will appeal to the Bengali audience even if it is a copy of another film,” said Mondal, unwilling to disclose the source film.

“Dev plays an orphan, a happy-go-lucky boy in the film, while Koel is an ambitious modern girl. Tota Roy Chowdhury plays a very important role.... I haven’t seen too many Bengali films, therefore I cannot claim that Bolo Na Tumi Aamar will be very different from the love stories hitting the halls every month. But the technique, the camerawork and the style will give the film a very fresh feel,” promised Mondal, who thinks Dev and Koel are perfect for their roles in Bolo Na Tumi Aamar.

“It’s not that I didn’t think of casting Subhashree or Shrabanti, but Koel is a mature actress. Besides, she was very good in Saat Pake Bandha.... And I will work with Jeet in future,” said the Mumbai-based director, keen to make “quality Bengali films”.

Koel and Dev are upbeat about their roles too. “I will play a doctor for the first time. My character Madhurima is a very studious and no-nonsense kind of girl… But I must add that Sujitda is a director with a vision and so it becomes very easy for us to portray our characters,” said Koel.

“I play Abhi, who is very loud. Abhi and Madhurima can’t stand each other in the beginning but things take a turn for the better when circumstances force them to share the same flat,” smiled Dev.

To be shot in Calcutta, Chennai and abroad, Bolo Na Tumi Aamar is being produced by Surinder Films. Jeet Gannguli will compose six songs, while Salil Chowdhury’s son, Sanjoy, will do the background score. Mumbai-based Kumud Verma is the cinematographer; NK Salil has penned the script. The film goes on the floors in the first week of August.
